Governance
The global structure comprises:
This initiative entails the establishment of distinct boards with different roles both at national and European level to ensure the governance of the project.
EUROPEAN ADVISORY BOARD (EAB)
The European Advisory Board is a permanent political and consultative board. It is made up of about 10 members of European and international organizations, independent of the partners, representing the equine and agricultural sector and experts:
- European Horse Network (EHN)
- EAAP
- European Federation of Working Equine (FECTU)
- COPA-COGECA
- European Federation Thoroughbred Breeders (EFTBA)
- Federation of European Equine Veterinary Associations (FEEVA)
- World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses (WBFSH)
- World Horse Welfare
This board ensures political support for the project at European level, and it will be consulted once a year to deliver an opinion on project guidelines and deliverables.
EUROPEAN SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL BOARD (EUSTB)
This European Scientific and Technical Board is a permanent board, composed of at least 12 permanent members: National Facilitators and Thematic Area Leaders. In addition to these permanent members, other experts can be invited depending on priorities. During European Workshops, the EUSTB will work on the commonly shared priorities at the European level, the matchmaking of common needs and solutions, the assessment of solutions and best practices, and end users’ acceptance.
NATIONAL FACILITATOR (NF)
National Facilitators play an important role in bridging communication and coordination between the project’s central European team and the local stakeholders within their country.
NATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD (NAB)
Permanent. Political and consultative board. 7-12 people (chairmen and directors). Mainfunction: deliveringadvice.
A National Advisory Board had been set up in each country. It is the political board, composed of representatives of the equine sector and other relevant organizations. This board ensures the support of the project by the equine sector at national level, and it is being consulted to deliver advice on project guidelines.
NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL BOARD (NSTB)
Non-permanent. Expert and operational board. 10-15 people (experts). Main function: assessing practices and solutions.
Members of the National Scientific and Technical Boards have been selected by the National Facilitators. They all have expertise on thematic areas, and direct contact with end users. The NSTB is the operational board involved in the assessment of needs, collection and synthesis of existing best practices, solutions, and knowledge. It also participates in the adaptation of solutions to national context and the definition of national dissemination actions.
NATIONAL HORSE-AGRICULTURE KNOWLEDGE AND INNOVATING SYSTEMS (NH-AKIS)
21-100 people per country (equine farmers and pilot farmers, teachers, advisors). Main function: defining needs and assessing solutions.
At the beginning of the project, each National Facilitator set up a National Horse-Agriculture Knowledge and Innovating System considering the multi-actor approach. NH-AKISs are stakeholders involved in the definition of needs and assessment of solution. Pilot farms will participate in the National Workshops (NWS). At the European level, they will be connected during cross-visits.
