Identification of solutions
More than 1,000 solutions and good practices were identified across Europe based on the insights gathered from equine farmers during Phase 1. When needed, additional interviews were conducted to gather more specific information. Furthermore, scientific solutions were identified through Operational Groups, Focus Groups, European, national and regional projects, and literature reviews.
These findings were described, categorized, and discussed during the 2nd National Workshops by the National Horse Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (NH-AKIS) in each partner country. The National Advisory Boards (NAB) were then consulted before sharing the list of national solutions at the European level.
In May 2024, project partners, farmers, and stakeholders from the nine participating countries met to match common needs with existing solutions at the European level (2EUWS – Germany). This process facilitated the mapping of specific needs and solutions across all countries, providing a clear understanding of their situation and priorities. It also formed the foundation for future training and demonstration activities. National Advisory Boards were consulted again to determine which priorities should be the focus of dissemination activities.
The matchmaking process was finalized after several online meetings with the involved partners. As a result of Phase 2, reports were produced on matchmaking of needs with solutions and the identification of GAPs.
